About Dr Lituri

Dr Darren T Lituri

Specialist General Surgeon

Dr Darren Lituri is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, and a Member of General Surgeons Australia, and the Gastroenterological Society of Australia.

Darren graduated from the Flinders University Medical School in 2000, completing his internship at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in 2001. He trained in General Surgery in South Australia, and was awarded his Advanced Surgical Fellowship in 2013. Darren spent a further two years of Acute Emergency and Trauma Surgery training in Adelaide, and has performed academic duties as a Clinical Supervisor and Tutor to junior trainees and medical students. He has performed thousands of operations and procedures over a period of almost 20 years

Dr Lituri has been published in peer reviewed surgical journals and continues to be a Supervisor for active Hospital-based clinical research and training. He has admitting rights to most major private hospitals in Adelaide. He also currently holds public appointments as a Senior Visiting Staff Specialist at the Gawler Health Service and Clare Hospital.

When not consulting or performing surgery, Darren enjoys spending time with his family, musical performance, outdoor activities, and is active in service to the community.

A referral from your GP is required to see Dr Lituri.

How quickly can I be seen?

Dr Lituri practices at a number of sites, so waiting times are generally short, and most patients can be seen within 2 – 4 weeks. Call 1800 548 874 for more information.

What do I need to do to prepare for my surgery?

The admissions office will advise you of any specific information about admission times and other information such as fasting or other preoperative requirements. Contact details for each hospital are available below.

When will I be back at work?

Recovery time depends on the type of surgery. The recovery time for a day procedure is usually within a week but more major surgery may take longer. Once the surgery is complete, this will be discussed at the post-operative follow up appointment.
